We are now working on an OP Art image!!!!

If you're unsure of what you're doing scroll down!!!! Use black and white paper to create a piece that has the illusion of movement, just like Bridget Riley did.

Expressive Line Compositions are due: Monday, October 27th, 2014!

Thursday 25 September 2014

Students are currently exploring line as a tool of expression and are using expressive line to create 2D artworks. Our first assignment involved the depiction of still life as a way to convey mood. Students were asked to draw three different panes of the same flowers. Each pane would be drawn in an expressive way and the choice of composition, media, line, space, etc. would help to convey an overall feeling. This assignment is due: Wednesday, October 1st!

Our second expressive line assignment requires students to divide a large picture plane into many sections by overlapping lines and circles. In each shattered section, the student is to try to use a different variety of expressive line! There are graphite examples of these in black and white on my main page!

Sketchbooks will be due soon (November 4th will be here before you know it!). If you did not yet receive the necessary handout from Ms. Power, please ask for it asap! You need to fill at least 8-10 pages for a passing grade...you have two months!!!!!!

We will soon be studying the work of Bridget Riley and the Op Art movement. Students are examining the relationship between colour, line, shape, pattern, repetition and movement and are using black and white paper to create their own unique op art pieces.
